Sir Mo Farah’s human trafficking allegations are ‘assessed’ by Scotland Yard

Now, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed to the Telegraph that “specialized agents are currently assessing the information available” as they decide whether to launch an investigation.

A force spokesman said: “We are aware of media reports about Sir Mo Farah. There are currently no reports to the MPS.

“Specialized officers are currently reviewing the information available.

“We believe there are victims of modern slavery, including children, in every borough in London and the public may encounter them every day, possibly without realizing it. In addition to being sexually exploited, victims have been found in construction, domestic service, agriculture, cannabis factories and in self-use places such as car washes, hairdressers and nail salons.”

The man and woman accused of using Sir Mo as a domestic servant have split up but are believed to still live in the UK.

In the BBC documentary The Real Mo Farah, which will air on Wednesday, Somali-born Sir Mo describes being brought to Britain at the age of nine and forced to cook, clean and care for younger children by a couple who told him that he would never see his real family again if he told someone the truth.

He was given the identity Mohammed Farah, the real name of his kidnapper’s son, by another woman who had been left behind in Somalia.
