Here’s how to save money and have fun with homemade treats.

CHEAP SCRUB: Most of us have sugar and oil in the cupboard, which is all you need to make a basic body scrub.
Granulated sugar is usually best, but other types will work as well. Mix equally with a carrier oil such as olive oil, coconut oil, jojoba, grapeseed or almond oil.
Then get creative by adding a few drops of essential oils.

Try a few drops of lavender for a relaxing blend, or add eucalyptus—the scent of many top spa products—for a touch of luxury.
You can also mix lemon or lime zest and juice to create a scrub that is uplifting and smells wonderful.

FACIAL FACTS: For an easy hydrating face mask that makes skin glow, mash avocado, which is packed with hydrating oil.
Then mix with honey, which is thought to soothe inflammation and have antiseptic properties.
Oats have emollient properties for the skin and can optionally be added to the mix.
Pop the mixture onto the skin and leave it on for ten minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
SALT AND SALT: Making your own bath salts is simple and cheaper than buying from brands. Start with Epsom salts — Sainsbury’s has Westlab bath salts on offer for £2.75.
Then add an equal amount of Dead Sea bath salts. Holland and Barrett has Westlab dead sea salt up to £2.75 in sales.
From here you can add a few drops of essential oils depending on your preference.
Rooting in the garden for extra ingredients. Dried lavender or rose petals are perfect additions.
If you mix up a batch, store it in an airtight container.
