Skera VR is a Steampunk puzzle adventure coming to Steam

Skera VR is a new puzzle adventure game coming to Steam.

Developed by a three-person studio Named after the game, Skera VR is described as a single-player puzzle-solving game. Trapped in a colossal gate tower and armed with a sword, you must work both alongside and against the tower's AI to escape. No recent gameplay footage is available, but you can check out the previous trailer below.

Team cut explains that Skera VR started as a third-year project when the developers were studying at UCA Farnham before working remotely. Visually inspired by Arcane, Breath of the wild Shrines and Halos Forerunnersthe studio believed that a “combination of sci-fi, steampunk and magic is an underrepresented and attractive concept in the VR market.”

For more details, here's an official story description.

The AI of the Tower, which is your all-powerful jailer, is also your benevolent guide and your only chance to escape your captivity. Even though they may not seem friendly, you share a common goal. Just like you, the mysterious AI is plagued by questions and a desire to reawaken the sleeping gate and find out what happened to its creators, the Gate Builders. This would also give you and your people a chance to escape the decaying planet. Unfortunately, the AI is powerless to combat the hard-coded responses and security systems… After all, you are an unforeseen and unwanted intruder.

We enjoyed our short hands-on bee WASD 2024where you play a PC VR demo via a wired link Quest 2. An attractive art style caught my attention and I was tasked with finding six colored orbs, obtained by solving puzzles, to bring them back to the AI. The puzzles were unsurprisingly simple for a tutorial segment, ranging from placing white spheres through pipes to placing weighted objects in the correct locations.

I appreciated the nearby reset buttons when I made a mistake, which put the objects back where they started. However, I believe that some things could be made clearer. I didn't realize I could stash items in a lair or grab items from a distance using the teleportation button until a developer told me, although I would prefer a magnetic grab for the latter. I also enjoyed Skera VR's swordplay. There's an attractive weapon design and it's quite fun to watch objects fall apart after you cut them up.

An official release date hasn't been confirmed yet, but Skera VR is coming SteamVR.
