MetService has issued some snow warnings for the South this evening, overnight and into tomorrow.
The forecaster said a number of weather systems moving through the country could bring a brief period of snow to higher parts of the South Island early on Wednesday.

There are also strong wind observations tomorrow for coastal areas of Dunedin and Clutha from the Otago Peninsula southwards from 7am to 4pm, and for Stewart Island and coastal parts of Southland from 4am to 12pm.
