There is not a wedding in Sepieland that does not have the great Will They Or Will not have endured them? question, and Fiz and Phill’s marriage is no exception.

Would he have had his Phill from her before he said ‘I do’? Will her love Fizle out? (Give me a break; it’s a slow day of joking.)

There’s definitely a hint of disaster in the air with Phill’s horrible mother Mimi hiding in the background and then Phill’s ex-wife Camilla showing up. Phill is undisturbed and insists he wants to marry Fiz; Camilla has other plans, just like Tyrone, who tells his ex how he really feels before it’s too late.

And let’s not forget the devil child, Hope in the mix: past Hope does not even begin to cover her problems.

JENNIE’S LITTLE DAY

Corrie’s Jennie McAlpine (Fiz) does not share her character’s enthusiasm for large weddings. When she married restaurateur Chris Farr at Trafford Town Hall, it was just them, their son and two witnesses.

It did not take Stephen long to make hearts flutter, but despite chatting with Elaine, is there a long life in a potential relationship? Since she was once married to Geoff, she should be wary of a man who looks too good to be true.

It is also suspected that, although he allegedly lived in Milan for years, Stephen could not even summon the language skills to ask for just one Cornetto.

When Audrey convenes a family reunion and announces that she’s updating her will and leaving everything to WARTS (the Weatherfield Association of Retail Traders), it’s a slap in the face for Sarah and David, who are both hoping for a share of her estate. (a piece? She’s hardly the Duke of Westminster. I doubt there are six crumbs, let alone one cut).

Despite withdrawal and assurance that she will leave them all, Audrey has another bomb: everything must be kept in a trust by Stephen, who also moves into Grasmery Avenue to look after her (suspicious, or what?). David is not happy. Expect a resounding chorus from Mamma Mia anytime soon.

ORIENTAL

Phil's (photo) prison life seems pretty soft in EastEnders, with people on his tips, literally

Phil (photo)’s prison life looks quite nice in EastEnders, with people on his call, literally

Crikey, a cigar in the square!

How many more extended families can EastEnders make room for – and where will they all live? I swear there are more Carters staying under the bar stairs.

The arrival of Mitch’s brother Avery (Omar Lye-Fook) looks like it’s another mini-empire in the making. We know that Avery is a kind of big shot because of (1) his name (2) he has a flash car (3) he is wearing a three-piece suit, and (4) he is holding a cigar.

You good ones! cigarette then Hit Karen with a siggie.

Phil’s prison life is starting to look pretty custy with everyone’s. No utility bills, no worries about plans or trains being canceled, or the rising cost of gasoline.

He doesn’t even seem to have to worry about how long the queue for the phone might be.

Unlike in other TV dramas, where there is a rope thug who threatens to hit you if you do not turn off, the telecommunications in Walford are nick on Phil’s tips and (literal) call.

With a choice of three phones, he calls Kat after making an enemy of fellow prisoner Craig, and he is now waiting for another prisoner, Ravi, to get him a surf phone. Blimey, Phil, who do you work for? BT?

After fighting with Craig, the guards intervene, and when Phil meets Keeble, she gives him another 48 hours to consider her offer. How long before he changes from ‘I ain’t no grass’ to the walking equivalent of Wimbledon tennis courts?

By the way, there is good news for those of you who cannot wait for your nocturnal fix of the program.

All of this week’s episodes are now available on iPlayer every Monday through mid-August. Call Phil if you do not believe me.

EMMERDALE: TISSUE AT THE READY IF FAITH GETS ITS RESULTS

It's a tearful week in Emmerdale as the day of Faith's photo with Chaz dawns - it's not good news

It’s a tearful week in Emmerdale as the day of Faith’s photo with Chaz dawns – it’s not good news

Be prepared for a week in which the day of Faith’s scan begins. Moira again pleads with Cain to act for his mother (change the record, Moira! Your sheep need you!), And Chas accompanies Faith to the hospital, where they wait for the results.

Ai, that’s not good news, the cancer has spread, and Faith refuses more chemo.

So, what does Chas do? She runs straight into the arms of Al, with whom she shares a passionate kiss.

Al is a bit reluctant (which has been going on for 30 seconds), but thinks Chas can use him to escape her problems. Yes, there is nothing like a dying mother to pressure you to have an illegal relationship behind your husband’s back.

What does Chas think? Oh, that’s right; she does not.

The storyline becomes more believable as Cain (Jeff Hordley) grapples with the reality of the situation while remembering his traumatic past.

Hordley goes on to add so many layers to a character who at first glance seems to be little more than a reckless thug; but while Cain shares with Chas the hurt their mother inflicted on him, we see another extraordinary dimension. Will Cain concede and spend time with Faith before it’s too late?
