Southland Stags supporters (from left) Josh O'Conner, Max Bryson and Harry Robertson were thrilled with the win against Otago on Saturday.

A deep red crowd filled Rugby Park Stadium in Invercargill on Saturday to witness the Southland Stags' long-awaited win over Otago to kick off the NPC season.

The home side won 22-13, marking Southland's first win over Otago since 2020.

The win was warmly received by the supporters, including Josh O'Conner, Max Bryson and Harry Robertson, who were very happy with the victory over Otago.

“We come to every home game, except the bachelor's day [Southland and Otago game] is one of our favorites because it's a premium rivalry,” Bryson said.

“We all put on the burgundy shirt, have a few [of beers] and have a nice day with friends.”
