Major Hutt Campbell Barry says he wasn’t surprised at the budget for the next fiscal year.

The Hat City Council unanimously adopted the annual plan on Thursday night, approving a 5.9% rate hike.

Mayor Campbell Barry said the budget for the next fiscal year was not a big surprise in continuing his council’s “return to the basics” approach.

“We worked hard to cut the cloth so that we wouldn’t spend any more on the payers,” he said.

The plan includes $ 41.8 million for three waters of water infrastructure. An additional $ 16.8 million will be sent to the first section of the Tupuahoronuk East Bay Shared Pass.

When the $ 68 million Naenae pool begins to be rebuilt in the next 12 months, $ 28.9 million will be spent on the project.

According to Barry, the project is important to the council and the community, demonstrating the restoration of comfort in commonly used areas and the use of local suppliers and builders.

The Upper Hat City Council also accepted its annual plan on Wednesday, raising equal temperament by 6%. For high-priced merchandise, $ 5 million was spent on seismic retrofitting of the Congressional administration building, and $ 1.2 million on Dr. Ferguson’s repairs in 2022 and 2023.

The $ 51 million upgrade to the H2OXtream pool will also begin next year.
