State Highway 1 has been closed near Cambridge after a serious accident.
The accident happened at 4:53 a.m. Wednesday on Hickey Rd.
Google Maps shows that it is causing traffic delays towards the south of the region.
All motorists were advised to avoid the area until further notice, police said.
Motorists heading north from Cambridge will be diverted to Karapiro Rd and motorists heading south will be diverted to Victoria Rd.
