Stewards’ Cup runner-by-runner guide

CHILD CHILD 3

Take it easy. Kept her ground in Group 1 last season and needed her comeback from the last ten months off in Newbury. Loves this trip and place claims despite her great weight.

JUSTANOTHERBOTTLE 3

JUST a bit old. Second this way in 2018 from 6lbs lower than today and his past two runs have been encouraging. We know he loves this trip and the track, but he’s doing a bit well.

AMAZING AMBASSADOR 4

Likely. Had bad luck last time in a Newbury Group 3 when he was hindered and last season was second in the Ayr Gold Cup weighing 1lb down. Trip fits and won’t be far away.

COACHELLO 2

CATCH coach. Solid form in France and makes its debut here for an Irish yard. It’s holding up well, so watch out for a market move.

mr. WAGYU 4

YU bet. Easily won the consolation race for this last year, scoring at Epsom’s Derby meeting for a good try at Royal Ascot. Fought to score at The Curragh last time and should run well.

LAMPANG 3

LAMP bright. Has won two of his last three and picked up well when he scored at Pontefract. He can improve in this race from 11th last year.

SAINT LAWRENCE 2

Holy sinner. Has run with little success in group races this year and struggled again last time in Newbury. Trip fits but looks a bit high in the weights.

COMMANCHE FALLS 3

Common. Won this in the mud last year and now just 2lbs higher. Raised in Royal Ascot stables and may miss the break but couldn’t bounce back easily.

FOOD 3

MAK has talent. Good Listed fourth in York above 5f but this trip fits the bill. Hasn’t won in two years but is a fixture in the places.

METHOD 2

METHOD madness. Played lightly but haven’t won in two years and didn’t show much last time in Newbury. Questions to answer.

BATWAN 2

BAT fink. Bad run in Wokingham but outperformed last time in France and love this trip. Seems a bit high in the weights.

POP MASTER 4

Master plan. Second place in the Wokingham and the 3lb increase looks decent. Travel ideal, goes in any terrain and has what could be a handy trekking.

REGIONAL 5

REG on a plate. Finished over 5 f with Donny, but this trip fits better. Has a rails tie and Ryan Moore on board. Ran well in a hot race at Epsom in June and lower in the weights. Can get close.

TABDEED 4

TAB smoking. She slammed sideways at the start from Wokingham and had no luck running back at Ascot at the latest. Loves this trip and has the ability. Rails draw a plus.

GULLIVER 3

GULL has wings. Struck a neck last year and the same today. Started this season well but was bad at the Wokingham. Has a good draw so can beat the odds.

SUMMERGAND 3

Summer love. Won this two years ago from 8lbs up and somewhat promising when last time fifth in the Wokingham. His love for the track is a big plus.

INVERPARK 4

PARK life. Improver who won Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot over 7f after two wins on this trip. That staying power is a plus and there’s more to come. Any chance.

FIRST FOIL 3

FOL of it. Cheeks continue after a solid Wokingham sixth from a poor draw. Looks better and is a player from all sides.

WHEN THE INDUSTRY IS DONE 4

DEAL on me. Good form over 5f even if you are unlucky after being hindered by Ascot at the latest. Loves this track and a longer trip should be fine. Player.

GOOD EYE 1

Bye. Swedish raider, has a German listed win on his resume, but struggled last time in Deauville. Hard to fantasize.

RATHBOONE 3

BAD to bone. Back in shape with a bold Hamilton win. Best on this trip and goes on any surface. Seems like a big price if you repeat that.

TYPHOON TEN 2

TEN not perfect. Solid shape at lower levels and had the saddle slip when last seen in an Ayr Gold Cup in September. Tough race for a comeback.

ANNAF

AF the pace. Solid second in the Chipchase on this Newcastle trip after a fair effort in York in a big field. Now I am ramping up the weights.

TINTO 2

DARK shade. Good win over Thirsk followed by two solid Ripon efforts on this journey. Moves up in class here and has struggled before in this race.

DAY 3

tea party. Get on top form to win on AW last time in Newcastle and a 6lb increase for that is reasonable. Has placed form in hot handicaps and can hit the frame.

ABOVE 1

Top bottom. Mixed up this season but best on this journey and is below his latest winning mark. Must raise his game at this level.

ABLE KANE 1

Not capable of. Best recent efforts above 7f and at levels lower than this. This looks a bit difficult on an uptrend.

ZARGUN 1

ZAR Wars. The UK’s only win was over 5f and he’s been struggling for a while. Should not meet this standard.

Templegate’s Stewards’ Cup Tip

REGIONAL can become a national hero in the Stewards’ Cup.

Ryan Moore takes the ride on this flyer who will love the 6f journey after getting close to Donny last time.

It’s pulled high which should be perfect but the choice of the low stalls could be Popmaster who came close in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot and has a decent weight.

Great Ambassador has Saffie Osborne taking off a valuable 3lb and loves a big field. He is a threat along with Inver Park, who is looking for four wins on the spin.
