hold your hats, Weird stuff fans – some viewers think they’ve uncovered a potentially huge theory that could have huge implications for Season 5.
At the end of season 4, we’ve lost the fan favorite Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), who sacrificed himself in the Upside Down to save his Hellfire Club friends.
He unleashed a bad guitar solo to lure creatures from the Upside Down to him, then fought as many as he could before they overpowered him.
He died in the arms of his friend Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), choking on his own blood after his torso was torn apart by giant, evil bats.
But we are in a time when, if someone is willing to read between the lines and post about it on social media, their theories will gain immense popularity.
And a new video with the Stranger Things cast, pay tribute to the late Eddiehas fans talking a storm in the comments.
Fans hope the increased promotional focus on Eddie since the end of Season 4 is a huge red herring being played by Netflix.
“Is it just me or did this seem over the top and was it one big joke on purpose? They really put it on top of it,” said one fan.
They then speculated, “They’ve been promoting Eddie and the Hellfire Club all the time, and now they’re constantly talking about him being dead.”
Another fan supported those comments by suggesting that Netflix was behaving “suspiciously”, while another fan suggested that Netflix wanted fans to think Eddie was dead.
In the comedy commemoration video, the Stranger Things cast jokingly put on their best tearful faces to say goodbye to Eddie before Joseph Quinn shows up.
“They’re doing this to repel us, hopefully,” said one fan after watching the video. Another fan hoped this marked Eddie’s return.
However, given the circumstances of Eddie’s death, it seems unlikely that Netflix is building anything major.
Unlike Jim Hopper (David Harbour) whose fate in season 3 was left uncertain because he apparently “died” off-screen, we all witnessed Eddie’s last breath.
Still, the questions surrounding Eddie’s death will be answered when Stranger Things returns for its fifth and final season.
You can now watch Stranger Things on Netflix.
