There were 1265 active Covid cases in Taranaki on Sunday, but the number of recovered infections was 34,384.

Taranaki reported his 50th death in Covid-19.

The Ministry of Health announced the death on Sunday at 1:00 pm update.

It was one of 11 deaths nationwide.

There were 1265 active cases in the Taranaki region, with 34,384 recovered infections.

Nationwide, there were 4924 new Covid-19 community cases and 424 hospitals.

The 7-day moving average of hospitalization was 405, an increase from 336 a week ago.

All 11 deaths reported on Sunday have occurred in the last three days, bringing the total number of publicly reported deaths in Covid-19 to 1560. The 7-day moving average of reported deaths was 14.

Three of the reported deaths were from the Auckland region, one from Taranaki, two from Midcentral, two from Canterbury, and three from the South.

According to the ministry, two were in their 60s, two were in their 70s, four were in their 80s, and three were over 90. Of these people, 5 were women and 6 were men.

That does not necessarily mean that the virus killed those people, but that they were positive within or shortly after 28 days before they died.
