Taylor Swift brings Eras Tour to Lisbon, on the occasion of the first concert in Portugal

In a career spanning almost twenty years Taylor Swift had never performed in Portugal until this weekend.

The superstar singer released The Eras tour to Lisbon for two consecutive, sold-out stops at Estádio da Luz in Portugal's capital. It was a weekend Swift said she'll never forget — and she's already determined to come back.

“When I first walked on this stage, when I first showed up at the beginning of the show, and I looked out and saw this crowd, it took your breath away,” Swift told an electric and packed audience during the first show of 64,000 people. on fridaynight. “My heart was beating so fast. You just made me so happy to be here with you tonight. Thank you very much for coming to this show.”

Long praised for her authentic connection with her die-hard fans and her gratitude for those who fill her arenas, Swift delivered a pair of shows for Lisbon that attendees won't soon forget either. When the Lisbon dates went on sale last July, tickets reportedly sold out within 2.5 hours. That's shorter than the concert itself, which started at 8:15 p.m. and lasted three hours and fifteen minutes, ending with fireworks over the outdoor arena as they closed the venue. Midnights era with 'Karma'.

The Eras Tour has been renewed for the European leg in the wake of Swift's latest release, The department of tortured poets. She debuted songs from the album on the first European dates that kicked off in Paris earlier this month, before moving on to Stockholm and then Lisbon. But she saved one of the songs, “Fresh Out the Slammer,” for a live debut in Lisbon during the surprise songs portion of the show.

As has been the case since she launched the Eras Tour in March 2023, Swift explained the idea for the career-spanning tour that takes “all my favorite moments from all the tours I've done” and puts them together into one “grand tour” . adventure,” as she calls it. The Eras Tour will take in Europe with opening act Paramore and a series of shows in Madrid, Lyon, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Munich, Warsaw, Vienna and back to London before continued to Canada. She has to pack in Vancouver on December 8th.

“One of my favorite things about the Eras Tour is that for me it feels like I'm revisiting all my favorite memories of playing shows for the last almost twenty years of my life, because we've been on tour for almost twenty years. every album I've ever released,” Swift told the crowd. “My big regret was that we couldn't take all those tours to all the places I wanted to take them. And we absolutely should have come to Portugal on every tour. This is not a mistake I will ever make again. We always come to Lisbon.”

Part of the reason for her early engagement can certainly be attributed to the way audiences reacted to seeing Swift in Portugal for the first time. The screams were deafening at times, and she received cheers at several points during the show for speaking Portuguese. (“Muito obrigada,” she said as she took the stage; on two other occasions she asked for help by calling security for distressed fans.)

During the Folklore / Always more As Swift sat at the piano, the audience erupted with cheers and applause that more than lasted three minutes. So much so that the lights came on in the room and Swift seemed overwhelmed by the impromptu expression of love. She planted her hands on her head and said, “Oh my God. I love you.”

During the second show on Saturday, Swift seemed even more emotional about what happened in Lisbon. “I have to say I have never seen such a crowd in my life,” she said. “There have been times on this show where I've enjoyed forgetting what to do next or what to say because I'm just so distracted by how much fun you're having and how you're doing. performing in the audience. I love this.”

Back to Friday night: “This crowd is one of the most memorable crowds I have ever played for. I think every time I'm not here anymore, I want to come back here.”
