Teen in serious condition after getting into trouble while swimming on popular Dublin beach

A teenage boy has been rushed to hospital after getting into trouble swimming on a popular Dublin beach on the hottest day of the year.

ardaí said the boy got into trouble around 7:30pm tonight while swimming at Burrow Beach in Sutton, North Co Dublin.

Gardaí and emergency services arrived on the scene and the boy was pulled from the water.

He was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.

The incident took place on the sandy beach on the hottest day of the year yet, when temperatures in parts of the capital surpassed 27°C and people flocked to the coast to enjoy the warm weather.
