Teenage boy, 17, stabbed to death at a house party as police launch a murder investigation

A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a 17-year-old boy.

The teenager was stabbed in Leeds in the early hours of the morning.

Police were called to a disturbance at a house in Salisbury Grove, Armley at 2:48 am on Sunday, March 19.

A party had taken place in the building with a larger number of people.

Ambulance services were also on the scene after a call that a man had been stabbed at the address.

Officers dispersed people from the area surrounding the address and the victim, a 17-year-old boy from Leeds, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A scene remains for forensics and specialist investigation around the Salisbury Grove address.

Detectives from the West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Investigation Team are treating his death as a homicide.

Detective Superintendent Alan Weekes said: “The loss of a young life in such sudden and violent circumstances is an absolute tragedy, and we take this incident very seriously and are doing everything we can to identify those responsible.

“We continue to support this young man’s family through what is clearly an incredibly difficult time for them, and we are committed to providing them with the answers they need as we continue our investigation.

“Our investigation is still in its early stages and we are conducting extensive investigations to understand the full circumstances of this incident.

“We are aware that a large number of people were present at a party at the address when the victim was attacked, and we would like to speak to everyone who was there and witnessed this incident.

“We would also like to hear from anyone in the area around the time of the incident who has relevant CCTV, phone or dash cam footage that could help with the investigation.

“We deeply appreciate that this incident will cause understandable concern in the local community, and we are in touch with our colleagues in the Leeds District who are working to reassure people.

“Officers from the local Neighborhood Police team will be more present in the area and will keep their local community representatives updated as our investigation progresses.”
