CCTV footage has captured the heartbreaking moment a toddler fell over a railway crossing while a train is approaching.
A woman with a stroller overtakes the child, but sees the train and quickly chases the child off the tracks.
Fortunately, the driver saw the child and slowed down before reaching the crossing after about 20 to 30 seconds.
The incident took place at around 10.20am on August 1 in Prestatyn, Denbighshire, North Waleswhere trains can travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h.
Network trackwho released the footage, reported that four near-misses have been reported at the same crossing in the past two years, and another 15 incidents of abuse.
According to the railway company, there are signs at the crossing warning users to stop, look out and listen for approaching trains.
Network Rail, the level crossing manager in this area, also visited Prestatyn High School with British Transport Police to teach school children who regularly use the crossing.
A Network Rail spokesman said: “This shocking footage, captured earlier this month by one of our CCTV cameras at the Sandy Lane level crossing in Prestatyn, highlights the importance of being careful and alert when using a level crossing.
'We would like to remind all level crossing users to stop, look and listen carefully, read all signs carefully, check for traffic before crossing and never cross when a train is approaching.
'Always cross quickly and safely and do not stop at the crossing.
'The video clip clearly showed that the alertness of the driver prevented a potentially serious incident. We need to emphasise how dangerous level crossings can be if they are not used correctly.'
Last year, CCTV footage was shared of two young women climbing over a barrier before one of them… narrowly misses a collision with a train drive through the station at high speed.
Meanwhile, this year, a series of videos were released to show how pedestrians, a cyclist and several motorists decide to drive over a level crossing, despite the fact that the barrier is down.
In one of the videos, a woman is crushed by a barrier.
