A beautiful walk near the Cotswolds is one of Britain's best as it takes challengers on a 42-mile trek through the local countryside.
The Bradford on Avon Walking Wheel is an extensive network of trails located near Bradford on Avon, beautiful Wiltshire village.
The community, south-east of Bath and tucked away near the Cotswold Hills, is famous for its local canal and wealth of historic buildings.
The wheel that bears his name crosses the town and runs for miles through the local countryside.
And while those 42 miles may seem intimidating to some, they are split into several different trails that offer people a variety of hiking experiences.
The running wheel consists of two main sections, starting with a 10.5 mile inner wheel.
The inner area has recently been expanded from 9.3 miles with new developments on the eastern flank of Bradford-on-Avon.
In its current configuration, the inner wheel gives people views of local landmarks such as the Avoncliff Aqueduct and the Tithe Barn.
The outer circuit is more than four times larger and will also be expanded to 40 kilometers in 2022.
The larger part of the wheel offers better views, including the river and canal, and is slightly higher.
Walks can reach high ground, elevated up to 175 metres, giving them virtually unsurpassed views of the local vista.
The outer route also passes more villages including Holt, Limpley Stoke, Monkton Farleigh, South Wraxall, Staverton, Westwood, Wingfield and Winsley.
As if these two trails weren't enough for hikers, the two sections are connected by a “spokes” section.
The eight spokes range in size between 0.6 and five kilometers and can be mixed and matched with either section to provide a wide range of potential walks.
The wheel has been operating since 2016 and has become a favorite with walkers, who can choose from a variety of pubs and restaurants as they travel the routes.
