THE BEACHES at a European holiday destination are the cleanest in the world, according to the latest figures.
The nation has retained his title for two years in a row, after taking the crown for the first time in 2022.
More Britons travel to Spain for their holidays than any other country holidays and with a record number of blue flag beaches it's not hard to see why.
It has a total of 628 blue flag coasts, more than any other country in the world.
At the start of the program, the flags are distributed at the cleanest beaches summer and then are retracted at the end of it.
By means of renewal of awards in this way, those responsible for the program hope to ensure that the beaches are kept in good condition.
Spain appears to be keeping its beach cleans up to standard, with diligent efforts rewarded by the sheer number of blue flags dotting the country.
Conde Nast traveler said: “With more than 600 pristine coastlines, Spain won a Guinness World Record for the most Blue Flag beaches in 2022 and has held the record for two consecutive years.”

However, with 628 to choose from, there are plenty of others for Brits to turn to.
Barcelona claims that “wherever you go on the Spanish coast, you will find the perfect destinations for an unforgettable summer holiday”.
That list includes places like Isla Antilla in Huelva.
It is described as “surrounded by natural beauty” and has facilities such as toilets, sun loungers and a sailing school, allowing holidaymakers there to really get the most out of their holiday.
Barcelo also recommends visiting La Barrosa beach in Cadizwhich they labeled as 'typical'.

They added: “Cádiz is known for being perfect for anyone who likes beach bars, surfers, nature lovers… so pretty much everyone.”
Cala Ferrera Bay in Mallorca and Cap Blanche in Alicante were also on their list of the best beaches in Spain.
Rounding out the top five destinations with the most blue flag beaches is Greece in second place (596). Turkey in third place (551).
Stand behind those three Italy (457) and then France (403).
