Her Majesty was accompanied by a Welsh prince for a parade at the Palace of Holyroodhouse by a group known as the Scottish Queen’s bodyguard. She was seen with her cane, but there were no obvious signs of mobility problems that have plagued her monarch in recent months.

The queen in a blue coat was full of joy and sometimes stood during the parade.

Known as the Scottish Queen’s Bodyguard and Archer’s Royal Company, the Redend Parade was the finale of Holyrood Week.

The Royal Company of Archers acts as a ceremonial bodyguard for Scottish monarchs.

It was the role first created by King George IV in 1822.

Princess Elizabeth first became acquainted with a royal company when she visited Scotland with her father George VI in July 1937.

During the parade, the Queen and Prince Charles, also known as the Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, were invited to see the Redend.

This was a gift from the Royal Company to commemorate the 200th anniversary of His Majesty’s Bodyguard in Scotland.

Reddendo is a gift given to sovereigns in return for certain privileges.
