Just when we thought British politics It couldn’t be more chaotic, we have Theresa May dancing to Craig David at a music festival.
The former prime minister‘s appearance on the lively gig comes after the current Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that he is stepping down as leader of the Conservative Party†
Mr Johnson broke the news after a large number of resignations from Tory colleagues, but has said: he wants to stay on as janitor PM until a new leader is elected in the fall.
It seems Mrs May has found a reason to celebrate by letting her hair down at Henley Festival.
The event will run from July 6-10, with a slew of acts on the Thames.
Ms May attended the event with her husband, Philip May, whom she married in 1980.
Singer-songwriter Craig took the stage to perform his hit Nothing Like This, featuring a video that Mrs. May captures her boogie up in the packed crowd.
As the rest of the audience jumped and waved their arms in the air, the politician showed some rather intriguing dance moves, rocking her head back and forth as she shrugged and flapped her arms.
She seemed to blend in quite nicely with the scene as other concertgoers were completely focused on the stage, allowing Ms. May to potter with a male friend by her side.
The former leader dressed smartly in a red dress with a statement necklace, while her boyfriend opted for a black suit and bow tie – a stark contrast to the blue bomber jacket and white jeans Craig wore during his performance.
Ms May served as Prime Minister from July 2016 to July 2019, when she too remained as Acting Prime Minister after resigning from No. 10 before the winner of the six-week leadership contest was announced, after which Johnson became her successor.
Although she has been an MP for Maidenhead in Berkshire since 1997, there is speculation that she could return to her role as Prime Minister after Johnson’s departure – and technically she could.
However, it seems unlikely given her superficial response to the matter.
She didn’t rule it out when questioned about the events, but laughed at the idea of stepping in.
“From everything I hear, I don’t think there will be an interim prime minister in the sense of anyone else coming in,” she said after giving a speech at the Institute for Government.
Deliver his resignation speech standing outside Downing Street, Mr Johnson admitted it was “painful” to leave office but stated: “Them’s the breaks”.
