Bukarama: Every day from 9am to 5pm, at Trinity Church Hall, College Rd, Timaru. A range of inexpensive books, DVDs, puzzles, with proceeds going to charities and projects in South Canterbury.

Banff Center Mountain Film Festival: From 7pm at the Mountainview High School Auditorium, one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world. Celebrating outdoor storytelling and filming achievements around the world. Tickets available at banff.nz.

Highs of winter 2022: All day at a fixed location in Woodbury, near Geraldine, winterrogaine. Starts at Woodbury Hall, with catering at the end of the 12 or six hour events, by Woodbury School.

Sunday

Party in the playground: 12 noon to 3 p.m., at the Caroline Bay Playground. Relive memories of the playground and celebrate the new milestone prior to the upgrade. Sausage sizzle, prizes, music, magic. A free event.

gaslight: June 10-17 at the Playhouse, Timaru, the latest South Canterbury Drama League production directed by Alice Sollis. After the thriller by Patrick Hamilton. Tickets are on sale at iticket.co.nz.

Timaru Craft Farmers Market: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, 2 George St.

Waitate Community Market: Saturdays from 9am to noon at Seddon Square in Waimate.

Geraldine craft and produce market: Every Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM at Cox St.

Art Gallery Aigantighe: Open from 12 noon to 4 pm, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

York Street Gallery of Fine Arts: Open Fridays and Saturdays 11am-3pm and by appointment at 21 York St, Timaru, the latest Origins of the Past exhibit features work by Sue Inkster and Marita Bool.

South Canterbury Museum: 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday with free entry. Two floors of exhibits on local wildlife, history and culture.
