Four young people have been arrested in connection with robberies at two supermarkets.
Four youths have been arrested following robberies at two Waikato supermarkets on Saturday morning.
At around 8:45 a.m., three armed robbers broke into a convenience store on Hillcrest Street in Tirau.
The group threatened staff and demanded money and cigarettes before taking off in a stolen blue Mazda car.
Police said the vehicle then arrived at a store on State Highway 29 in Te Poi.

Two perpetrators got out of the vehicle and entered the store, only to leave moments later with items taken from the store.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Matamata.
Three 16-year-olds and a 13-year-old were subsequently arrested.
“Police are working hard to ensure that those responsible for causing harm in our communities are held accountable for their actions,” a spokesman said.
“We are urging our communities and local businesses to remain vigilant and report any unlawful behavior – if anything happens now, please contact 911.
