This week’s best-dressed celebrities wore hats, linen and silver in every way.

This week’s celebrity looks come from the front row of fashion shows and the catwalk of Paris Couture week, where famous faces served all kinds of weird, surprising and beautiful fashions.

Below, our favorite celebrity ensembles from the past seven days.

Best Kiwi Representation

Thomasin McKenzie is incredibly talented, a well-deserved global star, yet so humble during her downtime.

It will look like her mother one day Miranda Harcourt is post pictures of the family that runs the Abel Tasman and literally the next, she’s at Paris Fashion Week in a Dior outfit that’s elegant and cool with a youthful charm that’s perfect for her 22 years. It gives me Baby from Dirty Dancing meets Emily from Paris vibes and I love it – Rebecca Wadey

best camp

Choosing a runway look is probably a bit of cheating, but check this out! It’s a walking, breathing tribute to the iconic Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male fragrance in its equally iconic tin. That’s camp

The dramatic look, with a molded glass body, comes from the Gaultier couture collection presented earlier this week in Paris, a collaboration with designer Olivier Rousteing. † Zoe Walker Ahwa

Best reminder hats can be sexy

FKA Twigs made a strong case for pairing a knit hat with cropped shorts in a recent Instagram post, but again, the stylish singer could wear a pillowcase and make it look cool.

I love all the little details – from the silky pink slip to the cut white top with tie straps with long sleeves, paired with a chain strap bag and platform boots. I’m not exactly sure what she’s dressed for here, but she’s doing well. † Lara Daly

Best in linen

Cozy knit cardigans may be having a moment locally, but in the summer northern hemisphere, their more grown-up cousin, cardigans, is all the rage.

Making a strong case for a coordinated linen look, Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery attended Wimbledon with this breezy two-piece ensemble from Italian brand Giuliva Heritage, which specialize in tailored pieces inspired by menswear. Cool in every way. † Tyson Beckett

Best friends we would like to have

The Schiaparelli show brought me great joy in a week when that was a rare commodity. Every look at the runway made me feel something: beauty, excitement, hope. It was an incredible display of art and commerce.

But off the runway, looks were just as strong, including from Natasha Lyon, Jeremy O. Harris and Janicza Bravo. I am obsessed with each of these people as individuals and as a trio they represent the friendship group I would give anything to infiltrate. These outfits would be great for anyone. On Natasha, Jeremy and Janicza they are exceptional. † RW

Best runway surprise

Nicole Kidman for Balenciaga is… so weird. But I’m for it! The star has never really been a fashion girl (despite wearing some iconic dresses and jackets), but walking into the Balenciaga show during Paris couture week was a refreshing surprise.

The brand has come to rely a little too much on celebrity gimmicks for my taste — they also had Naomi Campbell, Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, and Christine Quinn on the show — but somehow Nicole’s looks felt fun and weird, on a good way.

I’ve seen her model change compared to her robot character in The Stepford Wives and her silver dress compared to Moira Rose at Schitt’s Creek.

She’s worn Balenciaga before — famously in 2007, the huge neck tie at the Oscars — but walking the couture run in a silver dress that looks like you’re wrapped in aluminum foil? Probably the most interesting fashion Nicole has done.

Also great from this show: Danielle Slavik, the 1960s house model for the house’s founder, Cristobal Balenciaga, walked. Divine! † TO TAKE

Best little detail

Look past the Bulgari bling and the eye-catching metallic fabric of Lashana Lynch’s The Vampires Wife dress (both of which I love, don’t get me wrong) and you’ll see the delicate straps tied in bows on her shoulders. So graceful, so simple, so cheerful. † TB
