Three people have been taken to Timaru Hospital, one in serious condition after a collision with two trucks that closed off part of State Highway 1 near Waimate, South Canterbury, on Friday.
A St John spokesman said four ambulances and one manager responded to the incident in the Morven at 1:24 p.m., treating one patient in serious condition and two in moderate condition.
“All patients have been transported to Timaru Hospital,” the spokesperson said.
A witness who walked past the crash site said: The Timaru Herald there was a long line of vehicles and both trucks looked “pretty destroyed”.
“It looks like the road will be closed for a while,” a police spokesperson said.
