Three school Buses full of children collided on a bridge Chicago on Tuesday morning.
At least 11 students were injured and taken to the hospital with minor injuries after the crash on Interstate 55 near the southwest suburb of Channahon.
The incident happened just after 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, as buses were taking students to school.
Morris Hospital confirmed two were taken to their hospital, none of them in serious condition, while Silver Cross Hospital said four patients had been taken to the emergency room. NBC Chicago reported.
Braidwood police confirmed in a Facebook post that no one was seriously injured in the crash.
But details have yet to be established about how the three vehicles collided.
Images from the accident scene show several ambulances and police cars near the bridge.
Additional school buses were deployed to take the children to a safe area.
Just before 10:30 a.m., police said all students had been taken to a gas station while the investigation was ongoing.
A large police presence remained at the scene for hours.
The latest statement from the Braidwood Police Department read: “All students who were on Interstate 55 will arrive safely back at Reed Custer Middle School.
“There will be no further updates from the Braidwood Police Department on this matter as the traffic accident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
