Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called shortly before 12:45 PM after a vehicle carrying a seriously injured child slowed down an ambulance.

Police quickly arrived, but the boy died before he could be taken to hospital.

He had suffered critical injuries after a collision with a tractor on farmland off Bentley Hall Road in the Tottington area of ​​Bury, police said.

The driver of the tractor assists the police in their investigation.

A scene stays in place on the farm while GMP and the Health and Safety Manager to research.

There was a police cordon on Rochdale Old Road, but it has since been lifted.

Specialized agents support the boy’s family and ask that their privacy be respected.

Chief Inspector Ian Partington, Bury District GMP, said: “This is a heartbreaking incident where a young boy has tragically lost his life and my thoughts are with his family and loved ones who will be utterly devastated by today’s events. .

“Despite his family igniting an ambulance as they rushed him to hospital, unfortunately the boy could not be rescued after the best efforts of paramedics; I can’t imagine how painful this was for those involved.

“We are working to ensure that a full investigation is conducted, and farmland where we understand this incident occurred remains cordoned off to enable our investigators and HSE partners to conduct a thorough investigation to determine what happened right here.”
