Tunde Rahman, spokeswoman for All Progressives congressional presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu has denied claims that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike met his principal in France.
Rahman described the reports as false, adding that Asiwaju Tinubu is in France for some important appointments and will return to the country soon.
“We have seen a viral social media post made by one of the leaders of All Progressives Congress in Lagos State and media reports arising from it about an alleged meeting in France between APC Presidential banner bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Weeks of Rivers State.
“It has become necessary to correct the record. Although Asiwaju Tinubu is currently in France, he has not had a meeting with Governor Wike, either in that country or anywhere at all.
“However, this does not detract from the fact that the APC presidential candidate regards Governor Wike highly.
“And given the national and over-party boundaries of Asiwaju Tinubu’s candidacy, he will not hesitate to meet any important national leader when required.
“As announced earlier, Asiwaju Tinubu is in France for some important commitments. He will return to the country soon.
“Once again, we would like to advise journalists to always check their information with relevant officials before pushing quickly to avoid unintentional mistakes.”
