His words came after Piers asked Mickey what he thought of Tom’s latest movie Top Gun: Maverick topping the charts.

He said, ‘That means nothing to me. I don’t care about money and power, I care about the work of Al Pacino and the early work of Chris Walken and De Niro and the work of Richard Harris and the work of Ray Winstone.

‘I want to be that kind of actor. Monty Clift and Brando used to be.”

Piers pressed him further and asked, “Don’t you think Tom Cruise is a good actor?”

“I don’t think he’s relevant in my world,” Mickey replied.

It is not the first time that American actor and former boxer Mickey has criticized the film world.

Last year, he criticized both Marvel movies and the actors who star in them, after discussing how much he loves Law & Order: SVU, which he had been quarantined to watch.

He praised the actors who star in the long-running crime drama, with names like Mariska Hargitay, Christopher Meloni, Stephanie March, BD Wong and Ice T.

Mickey said, “Respect to all of you, the work you all do is really acting, not like that cr*p that’s all on Marvel s***.”
