Tory fight back on! 3 point boost for conservatives after week of leadership contest – POLL | Politics | News

According to the exclusive tracker poll for Express.co.uk by Techne UKthe Conservatives fell from 28 percent, the lowest point since before the 2015 election, to 31 percent. Meanwhile, Labor fell one point to 40 percent, still nine points ahead of the Tories, the Lib Dems also fell one point to 13 percent.

The result of the weekly tracker survey came out when the five remaining contenders took part in the first televised leadership debate this week.

Last week, Techne saw an investigation into the 24 hours in which Boris Johnson was forced to resign as prime minister after Rishi Sunak led a row of ministers out the door over the Chris Pincher affair.

Conservatives saw Labor’s lead double from six to 12 in a week when Chris Pincher’s sexual abuse allegations led to the prime minister being forced to resign.

The result would have given Labor a majority of 62, according to the Electoral Calculus forecasting website, the first time a poll had shown that since they were removed from office in 2010.

According to this week’s election results, Labor has only secured a two-seat majority, meaning the Rejoiner Alliance with the Lib Dems and possibly the SNP may be needed to bring the UK back into the EU in phases.

But more importantly, it shows that a new Conservative government after Johnson can fight back and potentially win the next election in 2023 or 2024.

The open nature of the contest is underlined by the fact that one in five (21 percent) said they were unlikely to vote for anyone at this point.

The same number don’t know who they would vote for.
