Tottenham interested in Leandro Trossard after Marcus Edwards scrutiny as Lucas Moura decision

The option to extend Lucas’ contract for another year expired on December 31 without being activated, so his contract expires at the end of the season when he will be available for a Bosman transfer.

Lucas is struggling with a tendon injury this season, which means he cannot train consistently. He can now talk to clubs about a free transfer in the summer or even leave this month.

The 30-year-old played regularly after joining Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2018 and scored an iconic hat-trick in their Champions League semi-final victory over Ajax the following year.

But he has been pushed down by the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski last January and compatriot Richarlison in the summer and has not started this season in the Premier League.

Trossard, who has 18 months left on his contract with Brighton, emerged as a target in January, as the club inquired last month about their former youth player Marcus Edwards, now at Sporting Lisbon.

However, initial contact has not been followed up and the 24-year-old winger is expected to decide on his future in the summer.
