how’s the summer sun making you want to eat flame grilled…everything?

We haven’t had an official investigation done, but based on our findings (if we ask our friends), we’re sure that golden rays and higher temperatures are directly related to our need to treat ourselves every weekend from now until the end of BST. barbecue in oblivion.

BBQs have come a long way as companies find ways to incorporate bigger and better features into garden variety barbecues.

The Traeger Ironwood 650. to build

The grill comes packaged in a number of boxes, so self-assembly is required. Grab a friend and get stuck; instructions are easy enough to follow and you’ll soon (about an hour) find yourself standing in front of the final result. It’s a good idea to build it in your prime position because once equipped with the legs and wheels, it takes two people to lift it. No problem if you place it on the patio or on a patio or garden tiles, but it can be difficult to move over grass.

Programming the Traeger Ironwood 650

With so many controls and features, it took some time to figure out how to best use the Ironwood: how to set the temperature, how much of the wood chips to add, how to empty it afterward, or how and when to release the super smoke. use option eg Fortunately there is a lot of information online from other Bring fans and guidance on the app. The internet also has many useful clips to watch.

Cooking with the Traeger Ironwood 650

Jane Palmer

We’ve used it three times so far this summer; twice to cook whole chickens, and once to cook a leg of lamb with a butterfly, with the meat’s juices dripping from the 650-square-inch cooking surface onto potatoes roasted on a tray below. We used the meat probe to tell us when the food was ready instead of the previous method of simple guesswork.

The chickens were juicy and tender and the lamb was like no lamb we’ve made before. Medium rare, so tender it made us cry and bursting with delicious flavour. The potatoes underneath really benefited from the lamb fat that rained down on them and turned out crispy and delicious. With plenty left over, the lamb was great and tender the next day too.

We’re already planning what’s next: brisket, ribs, and chicken wings are all on the agenda.

Traeger Ironwood 650 – the WiFIRE test

Fire may be an invention almost as old as time itself, but in the 21st century, the element is proving to be tamed by the all-encompassing power of Wi-Fi. Traegar’s grill uses an app to track your food, adjust the temperature, and if you’re hungry for inspiration, you can search for over 1600+ recipes. The app even lets you know when your pellets are low, thanks to the sensor in the machine – genius!

Your home router must be less than six feet from the grill to connect to your Wi-Fi, something to keep in mind when deciding where to place the Ironwood 650. It’s either getting a Wi-Fi extender or, for extreme BBQ aficionados, move your router if possible.

Of course, this doesn’t stop you from using the grill/smoker manually, or from consulting the hundreds of recipes for inspiration for your next meal.

Must Know- Traeger Ironwood 650

  • It takes a little longer than expected to warm up, so it’s definitely not something to just crack open.
  • Plan when you will use it and what you will cook on it to ensure sufficient cooking time: some recipes take hours!
  • The timer option is your BBQ BFF: use it and you’ll be rewarded.
  • The porcelain-coated grill plates make it fairly easy to clean, although we haven’t cooked anything with sticky BBQ glaze yet, so that’s going to be the ultimate test. The drip trays work well.
