Traffic delays ease after fire on Auckland’s North West Motorway

Delays on Auckland’s Northwest Motorway have eased after a fire.

A westbound lane remains blocked as emergency services attempt to put out the fire, Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency said.

The incident at approximately 4pm caused delays between St Lukes Rd and Upper Queen St in the CBD.

By 5 p.m., the congestion had cleared.

Auckland Transport previously warned of traffic delays in the area as a result of the All Blacks match with Ireland at Eden Park at 7:05pm.

“Please allow extra time when traveling to Eden Park as delays are expected in the surrounding areas.”

Game tickets can be used for free travel on buses and trains to and from the sports stadium.
