Trump Praises King Charles’ ‘Strong Positions’ But Admits They Could Hold Him Up ‘Political’ | Politics | News

has spoken words of support for during a conversation with Laurence Fox on GB News. He claimed he knew the new monarch “pretty well” and had spent some time with him during his tenure as president alongside his “dear” wife Camilla.

The King and Queen Consort have begun to perform their first official duties in their new roles as the period of royal mourning has come to an end.

Mr Trump said King Charles would be “different now” and do “very well” in his new role.

He said to Mr. Fox, “I know him very well, very well.

“And I spent a lot of time with him when I was there as president.

“And with his wife [who] was absolutely lovely by the way, and we had a good time together.

“And I, you know, so I’m a little biased when I say it, but, you know, he had a strong take on things.

“Probably hard when you’re the king, you want 100 percent of the people to love you like the queen did.

Discussing Charles and his political views, which he will keep to himself as a monarch, Mr. Trump agreed that the king would change something in that regard.

He continued: “[Charles will] probably keep it where it’s political a bit because he feels very strongly about certain things and not everyone agrees.

“I think he’s probably not going to 100 percent discuss certain elements of what he believes.”

The former president also praised Liz Truss, saying he “loved her very much and had a great farewell to the Queen”.
