Two dead and babies among those hospitalized as Gardaí closes the road after a horror crash

Three people have been killed overnight following separate road accidents in Limerick and Mayo.

a man and woman in their thirties were killed when the car they were traveling in collided with a van in Ballycarrane, Patrickswell, Co Limerick Sunday night.

A man in his forties died early Monday morning after a road accident on Achill Island.

Gardaí in Limerick is seeking witnesses after two fatalities in a collision on the N21 near Patrickswell involving a car and a van.

The deceased, a man and a woman both in their thirties, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies have been transferred to Limerick University Hospital.

The van’s occupants, a man and woman in their 20s and a male baby, were taken to Limerick University Hospital for treatment but are said to be unharmed at this time.

The road is currently closed for investigation by Forensic Collision Investigators and there are local diversions in place.

A man in his forties also died Monday morning after a road accident on Achill Island.

Gardaí in Westport is seeking witnesses after the fatal collision near Dooagh in Keel, Achill, Co. Mayo, which took place at about 3:15 a.m.

The collision involved a car and a pedestrian, who died at the scene. His body has since been transferred to Mayo University Hospital.

No other injuries had been reported, Gardaí said.

The scene is currently on hold for Forensic Collision Investigators and Gardaí is calling on anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

All road users traveling in the area who may have CCTV footage (including dashcam) are requested to make this available to the Gardaí investigation.
