Michael Stenger, a sergeant in the US Senate who resigned after the January 6 riots at the Capitol, died. He was 71 years old.
Stenger died of natural causes on Monday, according to two people familiar with the matter. One said he was diagnosed with cancer and was ill. People did not publicly discuss the details of his condition, but spoke to the Associated Press subject to anonymity.
Stenger has been a Senate guard since 2018 and previously worked for the US Secret Service for over 30 years.
