Games like Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed 3 will remove multiplayer mode in September, giving you access to “some DLC”.

Now, as a worryingly common event, another major publisher has announced that it will turn off some online features of older games to ensure that at least one is virtually non-existent.

Most games Includes both the console and PC versions of the Xbox 360 era, including many Assassin’s Creed games. The same is true for Far Cry 3, Rayman Legends, and ZombiU.

This includes only the original version, not subsequent remasters, but many PC versions will not be able to install or use DLC.

Anything previously acquired through the Ubisoft Connect service will no longer be available, and you will lose the ability to earn challenges and virtual “unit” currencies.

Here’s a complete list of 15 games: Anno 2070, Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed 3, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Driver San Francisco, Far Cry 3, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Rayman Legends, Silent Hunter 5, Space Junkies, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Zombi U.

The latest title on the list is the VR game Space Junkies. It was just released in 2019, but because it’s multiplayer, “you won’t be able to play the game anymore.”

It’s been awkward for Ubisoft to turn off the online features of older games for the second time this year, and the final batch affected many Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell games.

EA and Sony, as well as other publishers, regularly turn off online games in a similar fashion. This is a simple but rarely stated fact that it costs money to keep a server up and running and you don’t want to pay anymore. , When the game is old and too many people stop playing the game.
