On Thursday it will be a maximum of 32C in the far south east of England and next Friday temperatures will drop to 27C in the south west.

But the scorching heat wave is quickly returning on Saturday, July 16, with highs of 30C-31C in the southwest and just a few degrees lower to the northwest.

The mercury rises just 24 hours later on Sunday and could again peak at 34°C in some southern areas of England and above 30°C in London, south-west, south-east and east Anglia.

Meteorologist David Oliver, deputy chief meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “We are at the beginning of a period of warm weather for much of England and Wales, which could last much of next week.

“In the short term, many can expect temperatures in the mid-to-high 20 degrees Celsius over the weekend and into the low 30 degrees Celsius early next week. Much of next week will remain warm for the time of year and also for dry and dry weather. sunny.”

The Met Office added in its latest update, the heat wave criteria will likely be met in some locations from the weekend through early next week.

“The most likely areas to meet these thresholds are the South West of England and South Wales, although other areas with higher thresholds could also reach heat wave thresholds early next week.”

AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tony Zartman said temperatures in south-central and south-east England could rise from a high of 28°C on Sunday to a scorching 33°C by Sunday.

“This peak will generate warm to hot air that will expand northwards to the south of England later in the weekend and early next week (Sunday to Tuesday), with the peak currently expected to be on Tuesday.

“High temperatures in South Central and South East England will rise from around 25-28C on Sunday to around 30-33C on Tuesday.

“Areas from Wales and Northern England in the north to Northern Ireland and Scotland won’t be as warm. Apart from an isolated shower in the north of Scotland, most places will be dry on both Sunday and Monday.

A weak front on Tuesday will bring scattered showers into Northern Ireland, Scotland and perhaps the north west of England.

“Temperatures may drop slightly in southern England by Wednesday and Thursday, but more very warm to hot air could arrive next weekend.”
