The ex MP for South Derbyshire appeared on Mark Dolan’s show to share her thoughts on how the current crop compares to the iron lady.
There are still five hopeful candidates vying for the top job at the time of writing – Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss, Penny Mordaunt, Tom Tugendhat and Kemi Badenoch.
Mr. Dolan asked her, “Is Liz Truss cut from the same cloth as Margaret Thatcher?”
Mrs. Currie replied, ‘Oh, I don’t think so. Margaret Thatcher had a chemistry degree from Oxford.
“She was an extremely smart woman.
“Any questions they were asked tonight and at the previous debate, Margaret would have had a stream of statistics in her head, not on a piece of paper.
“And she would have answered this point with 100,000 and the other point with 25 billion.
She would have pointed to the amount of money going into people’s pockets now, this month and into September to help fight inflation, which none of them did, and a host of other announcements.
“She wouldn’t have missed a trick.”

“I want to hear a lot more details, I want to see that people understand details.
“I don’t think Liz Truss has that, I’m sure Penny Mordaunt doesn’t and I don’t think Tom Tugendhat knows what policy is.”
On Monday, the five remaining will be reduced to two as MPs go to the ballot for a third time, before a vote by mail to decide who will be our next prime minister.
