UK storm forecast: Met Office warns ‘tropical’ 29C sky to ignite Atlantic relief IN DAYS | Weather | News

Forecasters have warned that heavy rain from the west will hit parts of Britain over the course of this weekend, while southern and eastern areas will be hot and humid. Thunderstorms can rumble in some regions before the weather turns muggy and temperatures jump into the high 20s from Monday. With Office forecaster Tom Morgan said “wet weather” will be the dominant theme in the UK for the next few days in what will be a total change in glorious sunshine throughout most of July.

Many regions will be “very hot and humid” both during the day and at night.

Temperatures can reach 20°C in the early morning hours, “meaning uncomfortable nights for sleeping are ahead”.

Mr Morgan warned that some isolated areas could be hit by thunderstorms, with conditions typical of tropical countries.

The mercury could get closer to 30C during the day, but it will feel “uncomfortable and clammy”.

The Met Office forecaster told the PA news agency: “The main theme for the coming days will be wet weather, in stark contrast to the rest of July.

“Many areas will be very hot and humid with a lot of cloud cover, even at night, with temperatures reaching 20C in the early hours, meaning uncomfortable evenings ahead.

“The strange rumble of thunder can be heard in remote areas, and it will be quite muggy and humid, typical of conditions in tropical countries.

“Temperatures can go up to 29C in southern areas during the day, but it will feel uncomfortable and clammy.”

In its online forecast for Sunday, the Met Office wrote: “Rain in England and Wales is moving south and getting rainy, maybe thunder in the east.

“Usually dry with sunny spells further north. Warm and humid in the south, cooler in the north.

For Monday through Wednesday, the forecaster wrote: “Monday fine for many, but later the rain will spread eastward. Then often cloudy with occasional rain.

“A few rays of sunshine in the eastern and southern areas. Very warm feeling.”

The Met Office also wrote on Twitter: “There will be a humid mass of air over the south of the UK in the coming days, making it feel hot and muggy.

“In the second half of next week a cooler and fresher air mass will move over the UK from the north, but the heat in the south east will linger.”
