BRITS are bracing for an icy cold to close out the week as temperatures will drop to an icy -6C.
It comes after the UK Health Security Agency issued an extended urgent health alert this because of the risk of freezing weather.
A level three cold weather warning has now been extended from Friday to Saturday.
The With office predicts freezing fog and freezing temperatures for parts of the UK in the coming days.
ScotlandNorthern Ireland and the western parts of England and Wales will face finger-numbing cold, with the mercury possibly dropping to -6C in Northern Ireland.
However, a break from the recent rain is expected as, despite the freeze, most areas are expected to see clear skies and even some sunny spells.

Southern areas may also prevent the worst of the cold from engulfing other parts, with air temperatures likely to remain above zero.
However, some ground frost may occur locally due to a lower ground temperature.
Maximums of 6C to 9C are also possible on weekends.
Met Office forecaster Aiden McGivern said: “Potential for ground freezes in the south because the ground is so cold right now, although air temperatures are likely to remain just above freezing.
Scotland, Northern Ireland, parts of West England and Wales more prone to clear skies and frost, especially for Scotland and Northern Ireland -1C or -2C and as low as -6C in the coldest places in Northern Ireland where there will also be some dense fog.”
Some “light and patchy” rain is forecast for central England on Saturday, but it is predicted to give way to clearer weather across the country.
