Guard has postponed the start of his Past Present Future Tour after suffering a nasty neck injury.
The 45-year-old R&B icon was scheduled to begin his live performances in Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday (August 14), but the concert was canceled just hours before he was scheduled to take the stage.
Now, the singer of Confessions Part II has canceled two additional dates at the city's State Farm Arena, revealing that the performances have been canceled on doctor's orders.
In a statement about Instagramhe wrote: 'Earlier this week I injured my neck during rehearsals to give my fans the best Usher show ever.
'I hoped that with physiotherapy and medical treatment I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night.
'Unfortunately the injury has not yet healed and my doctors have instructed me not to perform this week.'
However, the singer assured his fans that he still hopes to be well enough to kick off the tour on August 20 in Washington DC, if he takes time for “appropriate rest and treatment.”
“The good news is that the doctors say that with proper rest and treatment, I should be ready to begin my tour in Washington DC on August 20th,” he continued.
He thanked his fans for their “understanding” and stressed that he had to be fully fit to deliver the “excellent” performances they expect from his shows.
He added: “I love my fans and thank you for your understanding as I allow this injury to heal so I can continue to provide you with the 100 percent excellence you expect from an Usher show and I will be on stage in your city very soon.”
Luckily for fans, the three postponed shows on August 14, 16 and 17 have been rescheduled to December 9, 10 and 12.
After Usher canceled the first show of the tour this week, he expressed his disappointment in a post on his Instagram Stories.
He wrote: 'On the new date you'll still get a little bit of the past, a little bit of the present and a unique glimpse into the future, but you'll also get to see 100 percent of me.
'The last thing I want to do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly awaiting the start of this tour.
“But I wouldn't be the entertainer I am if I couldn't physically give you the best of myself. I can't wait to celebrate this legacy with you.”
