After years of harsh comments about her weight and the lengths she went to maintain it, Victoria Beckham has shared that she is more accepting of her appearance.
Posh Spice, 50, said that while she is disciplined in the way she eats, she thinks life is too short not to enjoy things like a glass of wine every now and then.
She recently graced the cover of Grazia magazine in a blazer and a lace bra, revealing her toned abs.
In the interview for the magazine, she said that while body image issues used to stop her from enjoying her life to the fullest, she now has a better relationship with her body.
She said, “You're just becoming more accepting, aren't you? This is what I look like. I'm going to make the best of it, work hard at it. I'm very disciplined in the way I eat, the way I train and the way I work.
'That's just who I am. But I do like a drink and I'm not going to be the type of person who says, 'Ah, there are too many calories in a glass of wine.' Whatever. Life is too short. Let's have a good time.'
The singer turned fashion designer has certainly received a lot of attention for her weight over the years, even if she was once talked down to weighing himself, broadcast live by a talk show host.
She told Vogue Australia about the incident: 'I went on a TV show with Chris Evans many years ago and I had just had Brooklyn and lost a lot of weight afterwards.
'It happened to my mother after her pregnancies. It doesn't mean you have an eating disorder. And he made me stand on the scales to be weighed. Can you imagine doing that today?'
Moments like these made a deep impression on her. She told Grazia: 'I never want to look like I'm complaining, but there have been times in the past when I haven't felt confident enough to sit on the beach and watch my children play.'
Although the mother of four has now become more relaxed about her approach to food, she is still as in control of her affairs as ever.
'I wanted to take back control and literally create it myself. “I didn't want to have to rely on anyone else to do it right,” she said.
She also opened up about her social media use, saying about how she comes across online: “I'm a real girly girl and I think that comes across […] The other thing is that for so long people had the perception of me that I was a stony-faced ice queen because of the paparazzi photos and the narrative that the media would paint.
'People now see through social media that I am not. I like to laugh at myself. There is always humor in what we do.'
