VOLODYMYR Zelensky poses for a selfie with soldiers as he praised their “historic” efforts to defend the city of Bakhmut from Russia.
The leader with a lion heart said he “bowed deeply to all the heroes” during a morale-boosting visit to soldiers near the Eastern Front.
He added: “Your fate is so difficult, yet so historic.
βTo defend our country and give everything back Ukraine for our children.β
The commander of the Ukrainian army, General Oleksandr Syrski, said his troops had shown “superhuman courage”.
He also said Russia Mercenaries from the Wagner Group who had led the attack on Bakhmut ‘incurd significant casualties and run out of breath.β


He added: “Soon we will take this opportunity as we have in the past.”
Britain’s Defense intelligence agency said: “There is a realistic possibility that the Russian assault on the city will lose the limited momentum it had been given.”
The UK said some Russian troops supporting Wagner’s attack had been ordered to move.
