The Farming Simulator game, from GIANTS Software, has been around on PC and console since 2008 and on mobile since 2012, allowing players to farm, sell crops, raise livestock, and more. The latest edition of the game, Farming Simulator 22, new crops introduceda seasonal cycle, and a new partnership with Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) to create a fully immersive gaming experience that’s the next best thing about actually driving around in a combine.
The teaser video from GIANTS Software shows the new Volvo L200H High Lift wheel loader. The wheel loader is brand new, which was only unveiled to the world a few weeks ago, is characterized by greatly increased lifting capacity and extra power compared to its predecessor, the Volvo L180H. And while that may seem boring to you and me, the ability to test these machines in a virtual environment – without burning a drop of diesel – could mean a huge savings in CO2 costs.
For now, though, Volvo CE focuses on having fun. “We are excited to take our first active steps into the thriving world of gaming with GIANTS Software. Not only is it a unique opportunity for players to bring our machines to life,” said Arvid Rinaldo, Head of Brand Partnerships at Volvo CE, “but the game is also a great opportunity to introduce a younger generation to the sensation of machine operation.”
The average age of farmers in the US is over 65, so that angle could be crucial if we as a society want to involve more young people in farming and farming – crucial that is, if we want humanity to survive the next century.
GIANTS also seems excited. Thomas Frey, the Creative Director and Partner Manager at GIANTS Software, who helped master this madness, said: “The entry of Volvo CE into the Farming Simulator universe represents a unique and fruitful partnership, which offers many opportunities. Although we are preparing On an exciting project, players can look forward to the Volvo CE-powered enhancement of gameplay aspects in Farming Simulator 22 in the near future.”
