The Obumseli family’s attorney Larry Handfield claimed on April 27, 2022 that: Courtney Clenney would soon be arrested after his death on April 3but records show she is still a free woman.
Police have so far declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
Now, The Sun can exclusively reveal that her legal troubles are mounting — as a warrant forfeiture of her bail was issued on July 1 in Travis County, Texas.
She was initially booked in Texas on September 16, 2020 for: Driving under the influenceand her bail was set at $8,000 – plus an unknown charge for installing an ignition lockout in her vehicle, which measures alcohol content.
The sun previously revealed her mugshotshowing her with smudged eye makeup and crumpled blond hair, pulling down a blue mask during the first Covid-19 pandemic.
Travis County filings show Clenney retained attorney Meril Anthes, and a pre-trial conference hearing was moved to June 24, 2022, which she appears to have skipped.
The Sun has contacted Anthes for comment, but has not heard back immediately.
She also reportedly has an pending warrant for a 2015 arrest in California for public intoxication, and court documents show the case is still pending.
Ownership records show that she previously rented apartments in West Hollywood and Marina Del Rey.
Clenney is believed to still be in Florida, although her family lives in Texas, where she is originally from.
This means she may have trouble returning to her home state without being arrested.
She was last seen in April 2022 in a video on Instagram by a stranger confronting her at the grand beach hotel in Miami.
Her state attorney, Frank Prieto, confirmed it was his client.
SHOCKING CLAMP
In the short clip, the blonde former influencer gets up to leave, while the woman is filming and says, “Yeah, you have to go.”
Then she adds the baseless accusation: “Because you just killed your boyfriend… Yes, you did.”
Attorney Prieto defended Clenney sitting at the bar, saying it was an example of people making up theories.
He told TMZ: “Courtney was there that night with her father, who just wanted to pop in and have a drink in private – which was disrupted by this woman starting filming.”
She hasn’t posted to Instagram since March 30, but her profile remains active and has over two million followers.
Her OnlyFans also remains dormant.
HOTEL CONFRONTATION
Prieto added: “It is unfortunate that a member of the public who knows absolutely nothing about the circumstances and events surrounding Mr Obumseli’s death would take the opportunity to harass the Clenney family at a time when they Trying to support Courtney. †
The attorney also said he believed Clenney had been the victim of “physical, emotional and mental abuse by Mr. Obumseli”, and also suggested she might even be a “victim of human trafficking”, although he did not elaborate on this claim.
Prieto also claimed that his client had fought for her life during the domestic unrest on April 3, 2022.
Clenney was depicted handcuffed and drenched in blood moments after her boyfriend, Obumseli, was stabbed to death.
Shocking images obtained by TMZ appeared to show her in a distressed state, wearing a black crop top and white pants as she spoke to officers.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 call from Clenney on Sunday at around 5 p.m. local time at a luxury apartment complex.
There they found her boyfriend stabbed once in the shoulder.
First responders transported Obumseli to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
NEW INFORMATION
Officers said the violence was caused by a domestic dispute and Clenney was immediately acquitted.
According to the close friends, Obumseli had recently moved to the area and lived with Clenney in the One Paraiso apartment building, located in the Edgewater neighborhood of Miami.
Neighbors in the building told news outlets that the couple had a long history of domestic disputes and that the police were called to intervene several times.
His family’s lawyer claims new information has come to light – including an ex-boyfriend who claims Clenney was abusive – while she was previously also eyebrow-raising public comments about her behavior with men.
Handfield also stressed that she had not been taken into custody despite allegedly having an open warrant in… California†
“They never did a check,” he said.
“There are things that should have been done that weren’t done. How can you conclude in less than 24 hours that someone is innocent in a case like this? It’s shocking.”
Clenney was detained at the police station after the stabbing, where police say she threatened to kill herself.
Officers said the threat prompted an evaluation, making her “Baker Acted.”
Florida’s Baker Act allows law enforcement officers — as well as physicians, mental health professionals, and judges — to bind a person to a mental health treatment center for up to 72 hours if certain violent or suicidal tendencies are exhibited.
