WellingtonPhoenix A-League Women clash with Brisbane Roar is airborne after the team’s flight to Australia was canceled Friday.
The two teams will play their round match on Saturday at 5pm at AJ Kelly Park in Brisbane (NZT).
The Phoenix was scheduled to leave Wellington at 3:35 p.m. on Friday, but the flight never left due to thunderstorms in Brisbane.
The Phoenix recorded a shock 5-0 victory over Canberra United last weekend, their first of the season.
Last season, the Phoenix had postponed a game in Sydney for 24 hours due to a hailstorm just before kickoff.
There is only one direct flight from Wellington to Brisbane on Saturday, but it would not arrive before the scheduled kick-off time.
The A-Leagues have been approached for comment.
