Perez and Tosh ignore the warnings of the Norwegian secret service and track down Mathias Soderland.
Series Five
In the fifth series, Perez investigated the murder of young Nigerian man Daniel and the disappearance of his sister Zezi after a severed hand washed up on Shetland beach.
Perez began to suspect that a people-smuggling ring on the island was responsible for Daniel’s murder and Zezi’s kidnapping.
His prime suspects – the Hayes family – were found murdered in their home shortly afterwards, with only one surviving relative left for dead.
Series 6
Season six saw the return of a familiar face: Donna Killick, who was revealed (back in season four) as a murderer after Jimmy Perez reopened the cold case murder of teen Lizzie Kilmuir.
Donna returned to Shetland on compassionate grounds after she was diagnosed with cancer in prison.
However, things took a turn for the worse when she convinced Duncan to help her kill herself before she could be transferred back to prison, which he did by mixing all of her medicines into her mug of hot chocolate for her.
Donna tried to frame Duncan when she told her lawyer before her death that Duncan had pressured her to die.
The episode ended with Duncan confessing and telling his side of the story to save Jimmy’s career, but this backfired and Jimmy was arrested in the closing moments of the episode.
