Widnes police swarm a residential area after an attack in broad daylight | UK | News

Armed police have stormed an area and a helicopter hovers in the air after a man was punched in the face on a quiet street this morning. The 25-year-old victim of the attack is said to have suffered “serious facial injuries” and was taken to hospital.

Police were called to the scene just before 8.30am in Milton Road, Widnes, Cheshire, after reports of a “breakdown”.

Liverpool echo reports that officers have closed Milton Road from the junction with Milton Avenue and Lower House Lane, at The Cricketer’s Arms pub, to the junction with Caldwell Road.

There are no reports that anyone else, other than the 25-year-old man, was injured in the attack.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Officers were called at 8.25 today, Friday 31 March, following reports of a disturbance on Milton Road, Widnes.

“Patrols, supported by firearms officers, quickly arrived at the scene and found a 25-year-old man with serious facial injuries.

“He was taken to hospital where his condition is not life-threatening.

“The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.”
