her saliba is determined to fight for his place in the Arsenal first team as he finally wants to make his mark in North London.
The centre-back signed for the Gunners three years ago but has since been back in France on several loan spells, leaving him in doubt about his long-term future at Arsenal. Mikel Arteta.
Despite that time gone, and rumors of a possible permanent move to MarseilleSaliba has made it clear this summer that he wants to return to Arsenal and try to work his way into Arteta’s plans.
During the Gunners’ pre-season tour to the United States in Baltimore, the 21-year-old confirmed his intentions for the upcoming season and revealed that he has been in talks with Arteta.
“We talked a little bit on Monday and will talk some more,” Saliba told the club’s official website.
“My plan is to fight and work with the team, win as much as possible and grow more. It feels good to be back and start the preseason.
“I’m so excited to keep training and playing in the friendlies. It’s important to be here with the fans, as well as with my teammates. I hope we can enjoy some good training and games, which is important for the start of the season.”
Saliba signed for Arsenal when Unai Emery was in charge and since then there have been not only changes in managerial terms but also a significant overhaul of the squad.
However, there is no fear from Saliba of catching up after his loan period has expired, with the Frenchman keeping a close eye on the club’s fortunes while in France.
“When I was loaned out, I watched every single [Arsenal] game because when I was there some players weren’t there,” said Saliba.
“I watched the matches to see how they played, so when I was back it would be easier to play with people I hadn’t met before.
“It’s important that the fans are behind you, and I really like that. I can’t wait to give them something back.”
