The brutally gruesome murder of Sarah Everard in March 2020 by serving with firearms officer Wayne Couzens went from disastrous to worse for Dame Cressida. She faced a cry to stop after he was exposed as the killer.
Then it turned out that Couzens had not been properly vetted and Met officers had failed to investigate after he reported flashing women days before the murder.
But perhaps the worst moment for the commissioner was her officers’ heavy-handed police surveillance of the murdered woman at Clapham Common in south London.
The news comes a week after Mr Khan said he was “not satisfied” with the Met’s Commissioner’s response to calls for change following a string of scandals, including the murder of Sarah Everard by Officer Wayne Couzens.
Photos of protesting women being pinned down by arresting officers citing Covid restrictions on gatherings were published around the world, leading to condemnation.
When Couzens was convicted, it was referred to as Scotland Yard’s “darkest day.” Dame Cressida stood outside the Old Bailey and humbly admitted that the murder had eroded confidence in the police and brought “disgrace” to her army.
OPERATION MIDLAND
In 2014, Dame Cressida Dick approved the creation of Operation Midland, a disastrous investigation into false child abuse allegations by VIPs in which completely innocent men were chased by the police.
Five years later, as the embarrassing operation began to unravel in earnest, she refused to allow an investigation into the behavior of the officers involved.
This is despite former Supreme Court justice Sir Richard Henriques revealing how officers had used false evidence to obtain a search warrant for the raids. Dame Cressida said an investigation would be “totally inappropriate”.

A 2020 report found that the Metropolitan Police was more interested in covering up mistakes than learning from them.
The Hampshire home of the Queen’s confidant Lord Bramall – who was also a former Chief of the Armed Forces – had been raided by police in the early hours with search warrants on trumped-up charges of abuse by pedophile Carl Beech, a palpable fanatic.
After the Daily Mail exposed him, Beech was jailed. Before he died, D-Day hero Lord Bramall told his son Nick that “he had never been more mortally wounded, not even in battle.”
Former Tory MP Harvey Proctor, who received a substantial payout after his life was devastated by the disastrous pedophile investigation, last night expressed delight at the demise of Dame Cressida.
He was one of seven high-profile Met victims — including Baroness Lawrence, whose son Stephen’s 1993 murder investigation was botched by racist cops — who came together in a Mail interview last year to accuse Dame Cressida of “chairing a culture of incompetence.” ”.

CHARING CROSS
Earlier this month, details emerged of horrific messages exchanged by officers at Charing Cross Police Station, according to an official watchdog report.
As a result, about 14 officers were investigated, and two were found to have charges for gross misconduct.
One was fired and another resigned before being fired. Two more had already left, while in some of the other cases the Independent Bureau of Police Conduct ruled that ‘no further action should be taken’.
Incredibly, nine officers kept their jobs and two were promoted – but their sickening WhatsApp messages exposed an ongoing culture of racism, sexism and bullying.
Looks like this sickening episode was the straw that ended up breaking the back. Because by the end, it was clear that confidence in the police chief was gone.
XR PROTEST
In 2019, the force was widely condemned for its ‘light’ police oversight of Extinction Rebellion protests, which blocked several key areas of London.
Under her tutelage, career eco-activists from XR and its offshoot Insulate Britain were given free rein to cause mayhem.
Ambulances could not go through, while companies and workers had to stop their activities.
A low came when police were filmed asking roadblocking protesters if they needed anything – rather than just arresting them.
DANIEL MORGAN
Perhaps the most overwhelming conviction of Dame Cressida came in June last year, when an official report described her armed forces as “institutionalized corrupt.”
And far from blaming the fiasco on a pastor, it concluded that she had personally placed “hurdles” in the way of a search for the truth about the death of Daniel Morgan – a private detective who was brutally murdered in a parking lot. in a pub in South London in 1987.

Dame Cressida was charged with ’embezzlement’ for thwarting Morgan’s investigative team’s attempts to access sensitive documents, leading to delays costing taxpayers millions. Baroness O’Loan’s report stated that Scotland Yard was “institutionalized corrupt”.
The Met never found Morgan’s killer, but there were longstanding allegations of police corruption over the murder and its aftermath.
Morgan’s brother Alastair also joined Baroness Lawrence, Harvey Proctor and Lord Bramall in a devastating and unprecedented joint interview with the Daily Mail.
They all signed a letter to the Prime Minister demanding the resignation of Dame Cressida. Instead, she clung to it.
