Any money-saving hack are most welcome at this point, as the cost of living crisis continues.

Gasoline is an inconvenient everyday cost that can put a significant dent in our bank balances, especially with prices at the moment.

Satisfying, there are a few ways to make gasoline go further – and save money in the process.

A content creator on TikTokwho specializes in money matters, has revealed a little trick that can make all the difference.

Anna, behind the TikTok account Money for Millennials, shared her hack with her 108,600 followers. She explains: ‘Have you heard of this unusual hack to reduce your fuel consumption?

β€œIt is absolutely not nice to see the fuel price rising at the moment.

“I’m sure you’re thinking like me, ‘how am I going to include this in my expenses?’

“There is one trick you can do that will affect the way you drive and therefore use less fuel.”

Anna explains that all you need is a bowl and some water β€” or even the ability to imagine having both things in your car.

She adds, “Driving is like having a bowl of water on your passenger seat.”

The idea is that the trick encourages people to ride smoother, with better gear changes to reduce hard braking and acceleration, which saves fuel.

This is also known as ‘hypermiling’.

Essentially, the hypermiling tactic means that as little fuel is wasted as possible while driving.

So it makes the fuel consumption as efficient as possible, so that people spend less money on it.

Anna adds: ‘This doesn’t solve the price increase problem, but it was an interesting idea…what do you think?’

The hypermiling technique also involves planning routes that are the most efficient, meaning less acceleration and braking, which can use more gasoline.

This is because the car uses the most fuel to get going.

This also avoids hills and heavy traffic during hypermiling.

Another money-saving tip from TikTok is to download the free PetrolPrices app – which compares costs at nearby stations.
